Lisa Casciola has worked as a music therapist for over 12 years.  She graduated from the University of Dayton in 1999, completed her internship at The Judevine Center for Autism, and began working with Midwest Music Therapy Services. Connie Torretta has worked as a music therapist for over 11 years.  She graduated from Maryville University, completed her internship at the Judevine Center for Autism, and began working with Midwest Music Therapy Services. She currently provides services for several different Early Childhood School District Programs.  Connie is one of our summer group program leaders. You may remember seeing Connie around town performing with the popular band Fairchild. She continues to join the group for special events such as the recent All Star Game in St. Louis.  Connie is now offering voice lessons to children ages 5-10.

Celeste Hobbs graduated with a BA in music from Southeast Missouri State University in 1991.  She then completed a music therapy equivalency at the University of Missouri Kansas City, studying under Dr. Wanda Lathom-Radocy and the late Dr. George E. Petrie. Celeste has been a board certified music therapist since 1997 and has worked with children and adolescents with mental illness as well as individuals with autism.  Since 2006, Celeste has been working with Midwest Music Therapy Services seeing children in the early childhood and school setting.    

Maria Carron, founder of Midwest Music Therapy Services, has worked as a music therapist for 22 years.  She graduated from Maryville University in 1992, and since that time has worked at Health South Head Injury and The Judevine Center for Autism. She started Midwest Music Therapy Services in 2000 where she contracts with a variety of school districts, the state of Missouri’s Department of Mental Health and families throughout the St. Louis area. Maria is also trained as a Neurological Music Therapist.

Victoria Lininger has always had a love for the fine arts, especially for music. She began playing the violin at the age of five through the Suzuki method, later picked up piano at age eight, and in high school began teaching herself guitar. Combining her two greatest passions (music and the science of helping others), she graduated from the University of Missouri Kansas City in 2010 with a BA in Music Therapy. She completed her internship at Midwest Music Therapy Services in 2011 and continues her work with the company, providing her service predominately to individuals in their home.

Nicole Schmitt began playing the piano when she was 6.  She received a degree in Music Engineering Technology from Ball State University in 2003. After moving back to St. Louis she started exploring other career options.  When she learned about music therapy she knew it was the right fit.  Nicole finished her music therapy degree from Maryville University in 2010, after completing her internship with Connie Torretta at Midwest Music Therapy.  She has been working with Midwest Music Therapy Services since the fall of 2010, seeing clients in the school and home settings. Victor Gall graduated from Western Illinois University in 2011, after completing his 9 month internship with Midwest Music Therapy Services.  During his internship, Victor experienced a myriad of settings and people of all ages.  During the summer of 2011, Victor led group music therapy sessions at Camp Hope for kids with relatives effected by Multiple Sclerosis.  Currently, he is the “Jam” leader for Midwest Music Therapy’s Rockabilities program.  Victor also provides individual music therapy sessions to a variety of clients at their homes and teaches adaptive instrument lessons.

Teresa Stamey is our Director of Palliative & Elder Care. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy in 1993 and has been practicing music therapy for over 20 years.  She has worked with a variety of clients including children with special needs, preschoolers, seniors, Alzheimer’s, psychiatric, hospice and rehab clients.  She has given presentations on various subjects related to music therapy in a variety of settings.  Teresa started working with Midwest Music Therapy Services in the Spring of 2010, providing music therapy in school districts and for private individuals.
